Apartment Owner's Notes and Description

The building dates back to 1650 and is located in the very heart of Rome, a city that has the biggest historical centre in the world.
Originally a print work, it was till the 70's an art gallery with the studio apt. of the artist living here.
Since 1992 it's my residence. It's very very central, walking distance from all the best monuments, silent, fully equipped and confortable, just few steps from piazza Navona. The place is located at the ground floor, it's very bright, quiet and cosy. I decided to keep the artistic atmosphere, there are some art works and many books: It’s just a unique place!

Upon checking-in I will brief you about the neightbourhood, restaurants cafes and life around. This is like a small village with everything within walking distance. The most important thing for me is that you feel like at home and enjoy your stay!

If you have more questions, just ask!

The comfortable and quirky apartment was in an excellent location in Rome. We were able to walk to all the major sites and loved wandering through the maze of backstreets around the apartment. The beautiful Piazza Navona is just around the corner and lots of cafes, bars and boutiques just outside the door.
A local supermarket is very conviently located just down the street too.
The apartment itself was plenty big enough for our family of 5. Our 3 teenagers liked the loft bedrooms and unusaul layout. However because of the steep stairs I wouldn't reccomend it for very young children or people with mobility problems.
Our host was very helpful whilst planning our trip and when welcoming us to the apartment.
All in all a lovely place to stay for a real flavour of Rome.

Our group of six (four adults, two tweens) enjoyed our stay at the Navona apartment. The apartment was convenient to Plaza Navona and we were able to walk to the Vatican (~20 min) and to the Colosseum (~1.5 to 2 miles), and to many other sites as well.
The apartment met all of our expectations. We bought groceries down the block and ate breakfast in the apartment before our day out visiting the sites.
Marco was very helpful and we would certainly recommend this apartment to our friends. The one caution is that the steps are steep to the sleeping areas and they may be a challenge for some folks.

Marco was very welcolming and through with information on the apartment and the surrounding area near Piazza Navona in Rome. The apartment was quiet and location perfect for our stay. Once we had our bearings we were able to walk every where we needed. It was large enough and comfortable enough for our family with 3 teenage boys. We felt very safe in the apartment and the surrounds day and night. It was our first trip to Rome and we loved it. We will return and hopefully get to stay at Marco's.

Mooi gelijkvloers appartement. Schitterende ligging. Alles was in orde.

The apartment worked out perfectly - great location, yet quiet.  Marco was a very helpful host.  Everything worked fine and as advertized.  Would stay there again.

I was extremely happy with the apartment on all levels. Mostly the location is fantastic. It was within a ten minute walk to the Vatican, Campo dei Fiori, Pantheon, Trevi Fountain and maybe 15 minutes to the Spanish Steps. Around the corner was Piazza Navona. I've been to Rome sevral times and will stay here in the future, in fact I will plan my trip around its availability. It was located on the first floor (ground level), no stairs! Just outside the door was Rome in it's full glory, day and night, bustling with cafes, diners, grocery stores, and people. But when we were inside we could not hear a sound. It's not plush by any means but has everything you need for a comfortable stay. And it can easily fit 7 people. We were 5 women and felt we had enough privacy when we needed it. Thank-you for a wonderful stay in Rome!

We, as an elderly couple, found the flat very convenient. It is indeed amazingly quiet which is lovely after a long day walking amidst thousands of tourists in busy busy Rome. I would not call it especially spacious, and would not like to share it with more people, but we are used to a lot of space. The flat is charming and special as it is a converted printers workshop and full of very personal bric à brac. I especially liked the pieces of marble columns under the staircase! For a longer stay I might find it a bit claustrophobic. There are enough openings to air it, but there is absolutely no view. But that is exactly why it is so quiet in the very middle of Rome and weren't we always told you can't have it both ways? At our arrival a young architect from Marcos' business next door opened the flat for us (Marco came in shortly after and explained a few things) and on departure we left the keys on the table and closed the door behind us. Less complicated is not possible. Cleanliness perfect. Quality pots in the tiny kitchen, the famous simple espresso-makers...  (some soup plates
would be nice, Marco!)  All in all, we felt comfortable and enjoyed the place.

Very good location and It's quiet.
There are restaurants, shops even a grocery store just a few steps away from the main entrance.
It's less than 5 min to get to Piazza Navona, maybe 10 to 15 min to the Vatican, Pantheon or the Trevi Fountain.
The apartment has a lived-in feel. There's a shelf of assorted books, a drawer filled with travel books and guides to rome and Italy. Another drawer with umbrellas which we used.
Most important is that we were warmly welcomed by the person in charge. He gave us valuable information and tips in and around the city of Rome.
Not long after the person in charge left, the owner dropped by to say hello, and to make sure that everything was fine and in order..
I must say we left Rome with new friends.
We were 5 in our party, and it was comfortable and just right for us..

This apartment is a gem!

Location is perfect for sightseeing, eating and shopping!  We hardly used public transportation as almost everything was in walking distance.  No matter how noisy the street outside was, it was always so quiet and peaceful inside.

Marco gave us a lot of tips and showed us where the maps and guidebooks and the umbrellas were in the apartment.  He said he wanted us to feel at home, and that we did!

The apartment is spacious, tastefully decorated and it has a very relaxing atmosphere.  We were a group of 5 adults and we all fit comfortably.  We especially loved the skylight and the library!

We would definitely stay here again and we've already been recommending the apartment to our friends even before we left Rome.

The apartment was very comfortable and perfect for our family of four. It was not five star luxury however, so don't stay here if that is what you want. The location was perfect however and Marco was really helpful and nice. He recommended restaurants and gave us all sorts of help that made our stay in Roma fantastico. Thanks Marco

A fantastic location in the heart of Rome. Host Marco was very helpful in arranging transport and giving us advice. Thanks Marco for the great stay in Rome! On the down side, the kitchen is small, no dedicated dining area. Showers are poor with respect to water pressure and temperature adjustment. Older folks may have problems climbing up and down steep ladders to the lofts where the beds are, One have to be careful climbing up and down the ladders during nights to reach the bath rooms. Also the bedrooms have a low ceiling, thus a 180 cm/ 6 ft. person must take care not to bounce into ceiling beams with his/her head.

This is a great little apartment. The location is sensational, just minutes to Piazza Navona, and close to many great restuarants, shops and much more. The district is teeming with life and activity, and is literally right on your doorstep. We walked easily to most of Rome's attractions from here. The apartment had everything we needed for a comfortable stay and more, with a selection of guide books (which we used - thanks!) and also helpful information of local restuarants etc. The bathrooms were tiny, but there were two of them which was great, The owners were friendly and helpful, and run their business from next door, so checking in etc was no problem. The apartment is well furnished, cosy, comfortable and quirky with the loft bedrooms. We loved it and would happily stay again.

We spent 4 days in Marco's apartment and it was great! Marco was also very helpful in arranging a shuttle from the airport, as well as outlining the highlights of the city. The apartment has a number of good restaurants within a 5 minute walk. Other attractions within walking distance included the Vatican, Pantheon, Trivie fountain, and the Spanish steps. The Colesseum is only a short bus ride away.

Excellent location 1 minute walk from Piazza Navona and walking distance to all the major sights. PLenty of good restaurants and bars around. Apartment was a bit old, cold and damp but comfortable enough for our needs. Older folks may have problems climbing up and down the loft. Host Marco was very helpful in arranging transport and giving us advice. Thanks Marco for the great stay in Rome!

Stayed in this appartment for 7 nights, 3 extra due to volcanic cloud (no fights) It's in an excellent location, close to Piazza Navona, with the Pantheon, Trevi fountain and spanish steps all within 10 to 15 mins walking distance. Plenty of small shops close by, including supermarkets, sandwich shop, ice cream parlour, hairdresser and a good Irish pub. Appartment was clean, comfortable and easily accommodated the 6 of us! Must thank Marco, the appartment owner for all of his help and would happily stay here again.

The Navona Loft scores very highly on all fronts. We recommend it unreservedly and will be looking to return there next time we visit Rome.

In terms of location it really does not get much better. It’s a one minute walk from Piazza Navona, (a fantastic place to people watch in the evenings), about a five minute walk from the Pantheon and 10 minutes from the Trevi fountain. The Vatican is about 15 minutes stroll away while the Coliseum is 20 minutes in the other direction. Via del Governo Vecchio is full of atmosphere – restaurants, shops (boutiques in particular) and local artisans. There’s a taxi rank around the corners and lots of bus routes nearby.

The apartment is situated next to some great restaurants – highly recommended are Meme and Coco (next door) while Restaurant Pasquino just down the street, which offers in our opinion some of the best value and best food in Rome. There’s a great sandwich shop and an ice-cream parlour across the street and a newly opened supermarket down the street serves a wide range of fresh and cooked products to take away.

The apartment itself is very comfortable and quite spacious. We stayed there during a heat wave and the A/C worked well. It’s on the ground floor but set well back from the front of the building so it’s very peaceful. The stairs to the mezzanine level bedrooms are a little steep but easy enough to navigate for most people. It’s equipped with everything you would need during your stay.

Finally, Marco the apartment owner is very friendly and helpful. He was there to meet us on arrival and speaks excellent English, offering great advice on local attractions and facilities.

A fantastic location in the heart of Rome. There is not much space in the kitchen area and there isn't a dedicated dining area. We ended up eating out more than we thought we would as a consequence.

Our family of five stayed in Marco's apartment for six nights. The apartment was very comfortable and fit our family needs very well. The location was excellent with a 2 minute walk to the Piazza Navona. Walking to the Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain and the Pantheon was also easy. Walking to the Roman forum was about 20 minutes. The street that this apartment is located on is like a village within the city. One can easily find groceries, banks, bars, restaurants and shopping all within a couple hundred yards. I can hardly imagine a better location.

I would also like to note that our host, Marco was very gracious. Marco went out of his way to give us advice and make our stay most enjoyable. He speaks excellent English so it was very easy to work with him. After talking with Marco for only a short time I felt like I had known him for years. He is truly a great person and we are happy to recommend his apartment. When we return to Rome we hope we can stay with Marco again.

Quiet apartment in a fantastic, central location - good for a short stay. (A pity the bench mentioned outside was actually a broken skylight.)

We just came home from a wonderful 2+ weeks in Italy - where we used this apartment as our home base.
It was everything we could have wished; excellent location, nice amenities, clean, comfortable, quiet. On top of that, the immediate neighborhood is very "cool" and so is the arrangement and fittings of the unit itself.
We used all the appliances with no problems or issues. We cooked many meals, and prepared many picnics in the convenient and well equipped kitchen. It was great to have the very convenient access to the Campo dei Fiori outdoor market - with the "safety net" of a full service supermarket (all within less than 3 blocks)
We loved being in one of the hearts of lively Rome - and having a quiet retreat at the end of the day. Everytime we stepped out the front door we were surprised, and delighted, at the level of noise and activity (which was invisible and inaudible from inside the apartment)
Marco and Flaminia were helpful, and had interesting and fun suggestions. Highly recommended

Although Marco was very nice the apartment left a lot to be desired. The electricity was a constant problem we could not run more then one appliance at a time. The apartment was very cold and damp. The roof leaked, the appliances were poor. The entire apartment was very dirty it was not well maintained. One of the reasons we chose this apartment was the raving reviews. To say the least we were very disappointed.

The one great thing about the apartment was the location. Very nice location! Unfortunately, I have to rate this apartment a Poor.

Although it was a little bit cold, we (my parents, my two brothers and my sister) had a excellent time in Rome. The apartment was very convenient and large enough for the six of us. It is very clean and has a great atmosphere and its location is more than perfect. We were able to visit the most important and interesting points in Rome (even by Wheel chair) by foot. Marco took great care of us and made our stay very comfortable with excellent advises.

With the reservation we received a excellent support from roman reference. Certainly because of the fact the our mother has to use a wheel chair we had a lot of additional questions. Everything was solved en prepared very smoothly.

Also the advise to use romashuttle for the transport from the airport to the apartment was very well done for a very reasonable price.

We plan to use Roman Reference in the future and would stay in this apartment again, for sure.

Thanks also on behalf of my family,

Best regards,

René
